| I understand that your photographs are one of a kind and irreplaceable. Because many old photographs are fragile I try to keep shipping them to an absolute minimum. I can give you a quote on the restoration of your photograph based on a scanned copy.
Please follow the instructions below to create the best possible reproduction of your photograph.
Your satisfaction is very important to me, but we have to stress that estimates are just that - estimates. Once I have your origial in hand the quoted price may change due to previously undetected damage. I will not go higher than the agreed upon price for the work before contacting you.
It is up to you how you would like your new photos returned to you. You can have them printed on normal photo paper, heavy portrait paper or have high resolution images on a CD for your own use. Black and white images may be printed as black and white or sepia toned.
If you do not own a scanner, stores such as Kinkos, Office Max and Staples can scan your photographs and put them on CD or email them for you.
Scanning your photograph for an estimate
- All scans should be done in color, even if the original is black and white.
- Resolution should be at least 150 dpi.
- Scans should be saved as .tif, .eps or .psd files.
- Do not send .jpg files, that type of file will hide some of the damage in the photograph and will cause me to underestimate the work.
- Turn off any sharpening or 'dust and scratches' filters. Both will change the look of your photograph and cause estimates to be incorrect.
- Large images, such as 8x10's can be scanned at 50% for the estimate.
Images should be sent to estimates@michelleseventphotography.com
Once I have reveiwed your image I will contact you by email or phone with a quote for the work. When a price and timeframe for the work has been agreed upon you will need to ship me your original. I recommend UPS or FedEx for shipping, both companies include insurance and tracking in their shipping costs. You will need to place stiff board on both sides of your photograph to protect it from any possible damage in shipping. I have yet to have a photograph arrive to us damaged (with added damage I should say!), and have never experienced a lost package.
Turnaround time can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the damage to the photograph. Of course, if you are pressed for time I will work very hard to accomidate you!
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
